This was the Public Forum. It was televised by cable and there were nine people in attendance.
Bob introduced the committee members and then proceeded to give an overview of CPA and a little history of the committee. He recognized the proponents of the two projects that were accepted and funded at the October 2009 Town Meeting. Sandra Harris, Town Clerk, thanked the committee and showed the committee the books which were restored. Each restored book had a sticker on the inside cover giving recognition to the fact that CPA money had funded the restoration. Bruce Young, Hanson Historical Society member, updated the committee on the status of the purchase of the Nathaniel Thomas Mill. The attorneys from the town and the seller were still working out the details. Hopefully all the details will be worked out this spring. Phil Lindquist, Hanson Conservation Commission chairman, was also recognized for his efforts with the project.
Bob explained the financial breakdown of funds for the CPA and how they are dispersed. Open space receives 10%, Housing receives 10% and Historical receives 10% and up to 5% for administrative costs, with the remaining funds available for any eligible proposal. The two step application process was explained; the pre-application followed by an application if the proposal meets CPA guidelines.
Bob concluded the presentation by emphasizing the continuing effort to reach out and educate the community by the CPC of the CPA
